Lava Launch

The seasonal alpine disc golf courses at Mt. Bachelor are lift-accessed and available for play when snow melt permits, usually in early July through Labor Day weekend. The courses offer majestic views of the Cascade Mountain range, including spectacular views of Broken Top, Three Sisters and a variety of high lakes. The 2007 18-hole alpine course features Lightning DB-5 baskets and rubber tees, and measures over 7,000 ft. The 2005 & 2007 nine-hole “extreme” alpine course features DGA Mach 5 baskets and natural tees, and measures 5,500 ft. The top portion of the alpine courses (7,775 ft.) play through unstable, rugged lava rock strewn terrain. It is best advised to wear hiking boots, bring layers to prepare for unstable weather conditions, and bring discs that will recover from the punishment that mountain conditions may provide. Flight patterns are often affected by the high elevation. Discs are available in the retail shop at the base of the mountain and food & refreshments are offered at the top of lift at Pine Marten Lodge. Lift riders are required to purchase a lift ticket ($15 day pass), hiking is allowed. Summer seasonal lift passes are available for $79. New course layouts, for the 4th year in a row, are planned for the summer of 2008 and the Alpine courses are open from now until September 1st. |
